If things are feeling difficult or overwhelming; if you are stuck in an uncomfortable cycle or place, I can offer you a safe and containing space where we can make sense of things together.
I have successfully worked with a wide range of issues and I have a number of tools to draw upon to best suit you.
I am experienced around presenting issues including anxiety and depression; loss and bereavement; self esteem, motivation and a sense of purpose, relationship conflict, loss of trust and connection in relationships, issues around sex including kink, difference and diversity, disability and identity issues, chronic and long term illness, trauma including acquired brain injury, childhood and developmental trauma; work stress and burnout.
My core training was psychodynamic which means looking at early relationships and experiences for understanding around why things are as they are now.
My aim is to get to the root of the difficulties you may be experiencing rather than staying with the presenting issues themselves. Unconscious influences may become apparent and it is often in a better understanding of oneself that helpful shifts can be made.
I also have a systemic training which tends to look to our environment for understanding.
Difference and diversity were a focus of my systemic training.
Psychodynamic counselling may take time but it is often worth it. There is a growing body of evidence to show that the benefits are longer lasting.
I work both in person and online using zoom.
